The Coordination Commission

In order to coordinate the management of the property designated World Heritage, “Altamira Cave and Palaeolithic Cave Art in northern Spain”, which requires inter-regional action, the administrations involved have formed a joint body with specific functions whose objective is to carry out unified management of the property.

The Coordination Commission was created on 11 October 2007 and constituted on 4 February 2008 to formalise a permanent cooperation structure between the Autonomous Communities of Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country and the Ministry of Culture and Sport.

Its periodical meetings facilitate communications between the responsible administrations to ensure the correct achievement of the conservation, protection, research, management and dissemination of the property “Cave of Altamira and Palaeolithic Cave Art of Northern Spain”.
